Thomas Sankara, in his own words…
For this month’s “Afrooptimists of the Month” Page, I’d like to invite you to revisit the past and listen to one of the most committed, proudest Afrooptimists the continent has ever given birth to: THOMAS SANKARA.
He was so committed, he died for the cause he believed in: the self-reliance, prosperity and dignity of his country and his people, men and women.
Hearing him speak, I wonder where our revolutionaries have gone… Those who were so committed to the cause of Africa’s freedom and renaissance that they were willing to die for her..
Today looking at Burkina’s current situation ($577 GDP/capita), Sankara would probably be turning in his grave.
Without much further ado, here is Sankara revived for your enjoyment afrooptimists… A selection of some of his most inspirational speeches.
